WOODLAND HILLS, Calif., Jun 04, 2009 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- NetZero, Inc. announced today that it has launched NetZero(R) Toll-Free, a new service plan that allows people living in areas without a local connection number to connect to the Internet with NetZero's accelerated dial-up service without paying long distance telephone charges.

"While NetZero has previously been available through local access numbers to users in approximately 95 percent of the United States, there have always been certain areas in the country where potential members had very limited, if any, options for dial-up internet service," said Robert J. Taragan, President of United Online's Communications Segment. "With our new Toll-Free plan, our customers and potential customers in these heretofore 'uncovered' areas can now have access to the NetZero service without having to pay long distance phone charges."

Dial-up customers living in areas without local access numbers may have to pay long distance rates of up to 10 cents a minute to their telephone carrier to access the Internet. With NetZero(R) Toll-Free, users pay $19.95 a month for 30 hours of access, equating to 1.1 cents per minute.

NetZero accelerated dial-up increases Web surfing speeds without a broadband connection. Like all NetZero accelerated dial-up users, NetZero(R) Toll-Free customers also receive protection from viruses and an email account with spam protection. The NetZero(R) Toll-Free service also provides the following features and protections:

        Two GB of email storage
    Pop-up blocker
Unlimited access to all of NetZero's local dial-up numbers
Personalized content and powerful search capabilities
PC protection from spyware, Trojan horses, and Internet worm attacks
Compatibility with all of the popular instant messaging products
    Nationwide access
